Taken on Santorini Greece, these steps lead down from historical ruins of ancient Thera. Archeological evidence suggests the island had been inhabited since 800 BC. But some theories surmise that the island had been inhabited since the Bronze Age. It's downfall came when the center of the island, an active volcano even now, exploded. Thus  killing the The islands inhabitants. This Theory also may explain the downfall of the Minoan civilization. The Minoans resided on the close island of Crete. The explosion may have been so catastrophic that it's affects ruined the once prosperous society taking its written language and culture with it.

Different perspective, beautiful images

I love all of Matt’s work. Some of his pieces evoke the wild nature of the ocean, while others show aerial views that take in vistas with a different perspective. I’m in love with this capture, which brings the beauty and serenity of the Mediterranean into my studio. Knowing that it also represents part of Matt’s journey, and that I can see things with his eye, makes me happy.
